there are many precarious balances in the (Christian) life
be concerned… but do not worry
you have a will… but God has the will
(or the non-theist version: you have the capacity for choice that we can and will praise/punish you for, but that capacity is heavily influenced by factors outside of your control [genetics, environment])
nobody’s perfect… but we should be trying
rebuke… but don’t assume
be patient… but don’t be passive
forgive sin… but don’t ignore it
care for others… but not too much.
and so on and so forth
trying to take all of these considerations into account at all times is much too much for our little minds
